When configuring the cable Test Limit on your LinkIQ, keep in mind that "2 Pair" refers to specific pairs, not just any two.
According to the standards, 10BASE-T and 100BASE-TX communication on a twisted pair cable requires the 1,2 and 3,6 wire pairs (typically green and orange).
1000BASE-T and above requires all four wire pairs.
Consequently, when testing cables with the LinkIQ, you might sometimes see a test result that shows an invalid (e.g. open) wiremap on the 4,5 or 7,8 pairs, but still indicates a pass for 10BASE-T and/or 100BASE-TX.
However, if the wiremap is invalid for either the 1,2 or the 3,6 pairs, the result will be a total failure and not indicate any speed qualification.
